I'm not an MD and I don't have a PhD in nutrition...I'm just someone like you, who is seeking the truth on my journey to optimal health.

For years I've been reading, researching and conducting experiments on my own body, to find out what diet/lifestyle is healthy and optimal for the human body.

Our own knowledge what's "healthy" should come naturally to us, but in our modern society it doesn't; there seems to be too much in the way. Many decades of Big Money involvement - what's become a multi-million dollar industry - has skewed our perspective of the whole issue.

I want to share with you what I have learned, so that you can lead a healthier, more fulfilled and happy life.

I created Antioxidant Buzz to help clear up some of the confusion, by offering an unbiased perspective.




Natural remedies My Story

I grew up in a household where eating healthy and naturally was always important. My mother would make everything from scratch, and instead of taking advil or medication when we were sick, we would be given a special tea, balm, or a hot compress, and a day of bed rest.

As a young child, I didn't enjoy meat, nor did I enjoy the thought that it was dead animal flesh. So I was glad to finally be "allowed" to become a vegetarian at age 10.

I started more deeply researching health while pregnant with my daughter. The old cliche that vegetarians had deficiencies got the better of me, and I wanted what was best for the health of my baby.

But some "nutritional science" and "facts" that I had known all my life, just weren't adding up.

Considering myself “healthy”, I was so surprised to have awful morning sickness (more like all-day sickness) all through the first trimester. The only thing that didn’t make me want to vomit was raw fruit.

The advice in many preganancy books says: "eat more calcium and protein rich foods"...in the form of eggs, yogurt, cheese and meat. These foods just dragged me down to the point where all I wanted to do was sleep!

Then the second trimester brought candida. Now I was really pushed to look for solutions. And then my midwives told me I had low iron! I didn’t want to take pills, so I sought a natural solution, using herbal remedies.

I looked for different natural remedies almost every day (for the variety of fun symptoms of pregnancy) – from infusions and special foods to poultices and gargling.

woman in white coat - doctor I read. I bought organic food. I changed my diet. I changed my family's diet. I threw out the chemicals in my bathroom. I changed my whole mental outlook.

And I began healing myself. It got me started down an irreversible path of empowerment.

Because taking charge of your own health (rather than relying on people in white coats) is empowering!




Optimal nutrition

Health and nutrition is a complex issue, and every expert seems to have their own way of approaching it. But I was determined that at the root, everything boils down to some very simple principles.

Every area of diet and nutrition I researched was fascinating. I learned about the food industry, I learned the truth about being vegan, the magic of raw foods...

...and gradually I was led to why antioxidants are so important.

Understanding how antioxidants and free radicals work at the cellular level, and the molecular level to affect our very DNA, was an eyeopener. It not only explains how food affects your body, but also how your brain, and how your environment affects your body.

Diet was just a starting point for the rejuvenation of my body, mind and spirit.

On my new diet, I felt like I figured out the “ideal human condition”, or our “natural diet”, that's how great I felt. But more exposure to other's results led me to believe that the most important thing is that different combinations work for different people.

But there are certain principles that work for everyone – in the long term.

I emphasize long term, because many “weight loss diets” or “nutrition plans” have only good short term effects, and might even be harmful and ineffective in the long term.

Having read many different theories, my logic put them all together, weeding out the definite “no’s”. On myself, my daughter, and those around me, I see what is really effective for improving health, mood and happiness. The three are so interconnected.

People started asking me what I do to to stay so healthy and fit.

I see so many fad diets, so many wasted gym memberships, so many people just looking for something that works. All the misleading information put out by the food industry on a daily basis makes me sad.

ice_cream_sick As a teenager, I once read in a magazine “eating ice cream every day is healthy”.

And being naïve, I totally took this advice to heart – enjoying my ice cream every day for quite a while! Then I wondered why I was still gaining belly fat, despite my efforts to do crunches and exercise every day!

Despite all the literature and information available, an unhealthy way of living still prevails. The power and influence of fast food, convenience food, and the standard accepted lifestyle is too strong.

It’s almost like the mainstream media, and even society at large, almost wants to keep optimal health a secret from the public.

Once you start understanding the big business that is at stake (directly agribusiness, livestock sector, pharmaceuticals, and indirectly the entire system), you see why these things are practically kept "hidden" from the public.

It's not like the information isn't out there, but there is counter information being propagated by those with greater influence, all the time!

Even health conscious people who want to get down to the bottom of what’s right and what's not, are bombarded with different information and theories from every angle.




Healthy people jumping I believe in nature’s wisdom, but I appreciate that emerging science really delves into the how and why of natural processes. Leading edge science and natural health theories are both supported through antioxidant nutrition.

Everyone can get healthy just by knowing how antioxidants work, and the direct factors of free radical damage. There are no rules and forbidden foods, there are only the antioxidant facts – the rest is up to you.

Health is something you have to feel out for yourself – and everybody is unique.
